Something scary, something macabre and yet surreal.
There's no title to this one, because I feel a title would not suit this piece very well. I've spent hours and days on this particular work, and I am very pleased with the results. I also want you,the viewer,to interprete this work as you see fit; whether it be nightmareish or monstrous DOOM..whatever you see is what you see.
The most prominent stock is the eye, something I worked on to appear more real than just copy & pasted. The texture I used is merely for depth purposes to give the eye the feeling its alive and part of another world.
I hope you enjoy this work, as much as I enjoyed creating it

ok, let's see now...first of all, you achieved your goal with the level of creepiness that'll keep me from sleeping like ca baby tonight i like how you created a scary image without using the often applied "blood ,more blood!!" effect. i also like the tones, and how the eye looks. it makes me think of a snake for some reason
however, the image looks somewhat ...unfinished to me. i think it may be the composition. if you're bored and willing to give it a try, place the eye horizontally and add something "in front" of it to make it look like it's watching that object. or maybe just darken the upper side more that might work too.
another thing that kinda bothers the eye (my eye ) is the lower half where the texture seems to be.. moving, blurred. maybe you wanted it like that, but it seems a bit distracting... you could try to make it look "still", see if it works better
one more little thing to mention.. on the right side of the eye, there's some sort of line with lashes... i think it looks a bit out of place, like you forgot to erase it after cutting it from its original pic and if it's supposed to be there, with those lashes, try turning it the other way, it might look more natural (if that word can be used for this image)
all in all, an original idea i'd say that looks pretty good, but could use some more work.
good luck with the contest!
i'm not hiding this comment. this is the best detailed critique/comment anyone has ever written to me.
the lines in the image represent its scars, torn and evil. i chose vertical because i wanted the viewer to be attracted to the eye, like an opening into another world. the blur is part of the creepiness, how the viewer perceives evil is sometimes blurred, like something moving fast.
..and don't be confused by the glare of the eye, it could just very well be watching you when you sleep!
put all that aside for a moment. i also want the viewer to interpret this piece in their own way, what they see as a nightmare or monstrous; Is the purpose of this work.
